MALIN ROSENQVIST
My drawings are visual narratives, usually resulting in animations or illustrated stories. It is important that the images always add something to the story. They should be an invitation to what lies beyond the written text or spoken word. I tend to favor narratives that are based on the world around me. Stories unravel from things I have been told, read in the newspaper, experienced or even observed on the street and maybe overheard on a bus. My images are not bound to reality by natural laws and normal logic. They exist in the landscape between the plausible and the fantastic, the melodramatic and the ridiculous.
In the quest for the right feeling and the right medium to fit the story, I strive to find the right pencil for each specific story. The right surface, color and texture will carry the emotion of the narrative through to the viewer.
